The essentials of Sales & Operations Planning - The Big Beer Game
Many companies in recent years have embarked on expensive implementations and upgrades of sales and operations planning (S&OP) IT systems. For most businesses involved in manufacturing, distribution and retail a rigorous S&OP process has become essential.
There are many companies however, including large multi nationals, that have yet to grasp the importance and the potential benefits of formalised S&OP processes. For those companies that have yet to implement S&OP, the potential benefits could be as great as a reduction in inventory of 30% and an increase in sales of 20%. All of this gained through improved inventory management alone.
The sad fact is……that sound S&OP disciplines do not necessarily require multi million dollar IT investments. For many companies, simple process improvements can reap huge rewards.
Based on the famous Beer Game, Logistics Bureau's S&OP specialists invite you to be part of the Big Beer Game!
The fundamentals of S&OP will be demonstrated using the Beer Game, but with everyone attending taking part! Come along, enjoy the fun and learn about S&OP.

Location, Location, Location - Designing Distribution Networks - An Interactive Case Study
We are constantly told by Real Estate companies that the three most important elements of any real estate purchase are location, location, location. But does this really hold true for industrial real estate and in particular distribution centres (DCs) and warehouses? Maybe. But there are many factors to consider when selecting the location for new distribution centres or warehouses.
Logistics Bureau specialists will take you through the journey of site selection, using a case study scenario, with a difference!

Our seminar guests will be formed into teams, each with a Logistics Bureau specialist on hand to guide them. Each team will compete to select the most logical and cost effective site location for a new Distribution Centre. The results from each team will be processed through a Supply Chain optimisation tool so as to cost each option in terms of inbound transport costs, warehouse costs and customer delivery costs. The team with the site that generates the lowest cost will win a prize.
The event will close with a summary presentation on the key drivers of site selection.

Logistics Outsourcing – Avoiding Disaster!
Logistics Outsourcing has been adopted by over 80% of companies and for most, can deliver significant benefits. But the path to successful outsourcing is not always an easy one, for either party! Logistics Bureau staff have experience in the facilitation of over 100 Logistics Outsourcing contracts and would like to take this opportunity to share some of the tips and traps to watch out for.
In the style of the TV programme ‘Air Crash Investigations’, senior Logistics Bureau staff will take you on a journey through an outsourcing process that went horribly wrong (1). The presentation will reconstruct the events and actions, by all parties involved, that led to this outsourcing ‘disaster’, highlighting what should have taken place to support a successful outcome.
(1). Please note that the events and persons portrayed in this presentation have been constructed from considerable experience in the things that can go wrong, in order to create a condensed ‘worst case’ scenario as a useful learning aid. It does not represent a specific company!
“Gosford to Guandong” - Offshore Sourcing….it’s not all plain Sailing !
A short 3 act play, in English and Mandarin (with sub titles)
Introduced and narrated by Rob O’Byrne.
BHT Pty limited, a $4 billion Australian company, has embarked on a strategy of outsourcing manufacturing to China. Chen Lee Manufacturing (CLM), based in Guandong, has been their manufacturing partner now for 12 months.
We turn the clock back over 12 months, and take a ‘fly on the wall’ peek into the board rooms of both BHT and CLM, as the ‘offshoring’ relationship is conceived, negotiated and implemented. Through the barriers of culture, language and mis aligned expectations, we gain an insight into the real cost/benefits of offshoring and the many hurdles that can lie in wait for the unwary.
Great fun and very informative……not to be missed.
